The town of Namchi is located at the height of 5500 feet from the sea level and at the distance of 100 km from the Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim and around 110 km from the Siliguri, the nearest commercially famous town in West Bengal. Due to the plenty of monasteries, stupas and religious centers located in the Namchi, the South Sikkim is the hub for the spirituality and religious activities and devotees visit the Namchi city for the inner peace and spiritual awakening. Nowadays, the Namchi has gained a lot of popularity as the prominent tourist destinations as well. Surrounded by the lush green forests, beautiful valleys, pristine river and magnificent hills, this small but amazingly beautiful and tranquil town is the perfect vacation destination amidst the pristine nature. Siddheshwara Dham:
The Siddheshwara Dham is the prime pilgrim destination in the south Sikkim, which has been recently developed by the Sikkim Government to promote the religious tourism and village tourism in the state. It is a big temple complex spread in the area of 7 acres around 5 km away from the nearest city of Namchi in South Sikkim. The temple complex is situated on the top of the Solophok hills and is the prime tourist attraction for the religious importance and the natural beauty. The temple has a 108 ft tall Lord Shiva statue, 18 ft tall statue of Lord Kirateshwar, twelve jyotirlingas replicas as well as the replicas of the four famous temples of the Chardham – Badrinath, Dwarka, Jagannath and Rameswaram. There are enough accommodation and food facilities available here for the tourists.
Temi Tea Garden:
This is the only tea estate that exists in the State of Sikkim which produces the international standard tea, which has very high demand in the international market. The tea estate is located on the slope of the Tendong Hill and spreads in the large area offering the splendid picture-perfect view of the surroundings and the small villages nearby. Tourists can visit this tea garden and also watch the tea processing methods which will be an enriching experience. There is an old Dak-Bungalow situated below the slope of the tea garden at the foothill where tourist can spend a night for a memorable quaint experience of the British era living. In order to visit the Tea Garden, you have to trek on the way to the Tendong Hill and get the sight of the amazing natural surroundings and feel as the part of the Mother Nature.
